Magic Kingdom’s Purple Wall

Guests to the Magic Kingdom have made the Purple Wall famous. This wall leading into Tomorrowland as become an important photo location. Well, just in case you have not heard, the Purple Wall is no longer just purple.

The Mature Mouse™️ likes the update; the geometric mosaic is an appropriate transition into Tomorrowland. What do you think of this update to the Purple Wall?

TRON Cycling to Tomorrowland

It will come as no surprise to regular readers of this blog; the Magic Kingdom is my favorite Walt Disney World Park. It is home to the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover; just some of my favorite rides. And, being a sci-fi fan, one would think that Tomorrowland is my favorite area of the park. It is not.

Tomorrowland has been going through an identity crisis for some time. Although it contains some classic attractions, like the PeopleMover, Space Mountain, and Carousel of Progress, this area lacks a common theme. Like New Fantasyland, Tomorrowland is need of a major overhaul, and it just might be getting it.

“Disney Parks and Resorts announced the TRON roller coaster coming to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World” (Inside The Magic). This popular thrill ride from Shanghai Disneyland will NOT be built in the Tomorrowland Speedway footprint as originally rumored.

Disney is promising this addition to Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland will open for the park’s 50th Anniversary in 2021. Is this just the beginning of a new, reimagined Tomorrowland? What do think? Please leave your comments below.

Cosmic Ray’s Very Chaotic

The Mature Mouse™ dined at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café for the first time, and the experience was really chaotic. I am on the quick Service dining plan, so I have eaten at numerous QS restaurants while at WDW. Most of these have had some organization to the flow of traffic. There wasn’t a cast member directing guests to bays, or directing guests into each line, as they do at Restaurantosaurus and Columbia Harbour House. And, to add to the chaos, one of the bays was closed. The food is your basic QS fare, nothing special.

The highlight of my experience was the performance of Sonny Eclipse. It seemed as though most of the guests were not paying attention to the entertainer. I felt sorry for the alien.

Is Tomorrowland an overlooked area of the Magic Kingdom?

As I prepare my plans for my Disney World trip in June, I wonder how much time guests spend in Tomorrowland. I did not spend any time wandering through this section of the Magic Kingdom during my last visit, an oversight I do not want to duplicate during this next trip.

The Disney Fanatic website published a list of the top 5 attractions in Tomorrowland. Do you agree with their list? Of these attractions, which are on your must-do list, and which attractions do you avoid? I would appreciate your comments below as I work on my touring plans for my forthcoming trip. I will be posting more of my trip planning strategies in the weeks to come.

Are you planning to see Disney’s Tomorrowland? Could this film be the catalyst for changes to come in the parks? Based on the limited information released, it would seem that Tomorrowland will reflect Walt Disney’s vision for that section of the park; a place where the possibility of what might be in the world of tomorrow.

Update – April 20: Disney Parks Blog just posted an overview of Tomoorowland and the inspiration of Walt Disney’s dream of the future.

I began planning my Disney World Vacation by calling Jennie Nowers. When the Cool Summer Savings were released, Jennie was up early rebooking my trip, which saved me 15% on the cost of my resort stay. I did not need to do a thing.
