October 1: A special day for Walt Disney World
On October 1, 1971, the Walt Disney World Resort officially opened, including Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
EPCOT at Walt Disney World opened on Friday, October 1, 1982. Instead of being a futurist community consisting of homes and businesses, as Walt Disney had envisioned, EPCOT consists of Future World and World Showcase.

New Nighttime Projection Show coming to Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World has announced a new nighttime projection show, “Once Upon a Time.” This show is scheduled to debut at Magic Kingdom on November 4, replacing “Celebrate the Magic“.
