Disney’s Gondola System – Disney Skyliner
Disney Fanatic has created an overview of the new gondola transportation system coming to Walt Disney World. It is by no means everything you need to know. The MatureMouse™️ would like to know when the Disney Skyliner will be open. It would also be helpful to know the approximate travel times between stations. And, given the unpredictable Florida weather, how will sudden storms impact the operation of the system?
Are you looking forward to this new transportation system coming to Walt Disney World?

Walt Disney World will take guests far, far away!
The Mature Mouse™ is a Star Wars fan. I am very excited about Disney’s construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney announced the addition of a new resort, connected to Galaxy’s Edge, that will immerse guests in the Star Wars universe by allowing them to engage in a type of role-playing vacation.
Are you looking forward to booking a stay at this Star Wars resort? Do you like the level of immersion Disney is promising?
Star Wars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Mature Mouse™ was registered with WordPress on November 10, 2014. My first post was made on November 30, 2014. I would like to thank each and every one of you that have continued to follow my Disney musings.
The Mature Mouse™ is not only a fan of all things Disney, especially the parks, but I am also a Star Wars nerd. Episode 4: A New Hope, from the original trilogy, has become a part of my instructional material when teaching freshmen about the archetype of the hero journey. I am very excited about the new Star Wars land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (name change yet to be announced). Until this new experience opens, DHS offers a taste of Star Wars through the various special events, including the new fireworks, and the Star Wars Launch Bay.
This is a description of the Launch Bay from the Disney World website:
Explore immersive special exhibits and get a peek behind the scenes of the new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Discover sights, sounds and surprises that are sure to delight any Star Wars fan.
Get an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes, concept artwork and artifacts from the Star Wars films, including these special galleries:
- Celebration Gallery
- Preview Galley
- Light Side Gallery
- Dark Side Gallery
The Mature Mouse™ entered nerd nirvana touring the Star Wars Launch Bay during my last solo trip to Walt Disney World. I was able to view a galaxy of Star Wars memorabilia (see what I did there). My attempt to trade with a Jawa failed; he (she?) was just not interested in what I had to offer in trade. I finally gave the character one my cast-member “Thank You” cards. These creatures are well trained to marvelously interact with the guests. And, the highlight of my tour of the Star Wars Launch Bay was meeting a very special Wookie named Chewbacca. Here is a tip for avoiding lines at meet and greets in the Star Wars Launch Bay: go during the fireworks or Fantasmic.

Strolling Disney’s Streets of America

The Mature Mouse™ enjoys a stroll along the Streets of America while visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is just a matter of time before this site is gone. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity of experiencing The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights along these streets. Plans suggest that this area will become a part of the new Star Wars Land.
Formerly known as New York Street, for its theming of an American cosmopolitan city, it was rename in 2004 with the addition of the San Francisco street scenes. The Streets of America area was built to serve as set locations for the working Disney-MGM Studios. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is no longer a functioning studio, and many of those attractions are closed or slated for closure.
Just off the Streets of America is a mermaid fountain, which was used in the movie Splash. It sits between the Studio Catering Company and Toy Story Midway Mania. This statue has been in the park since it first opened 1989. It depicts a classic demure mermaid sitting on a curved platform supported by four dolphins that are spouting water. This is not the only reference to the movie Splash that can be found in the Disney Parks. At the time of its creation, then-CEO Michael Eisner suggested the new flume-ride attraction be called Splash Mountain to help promote the movie.
Will you miss the Streets of America once they are part of a galaxy far, far away?
