Tour of Star Wars Land

D23 Expo is this weekend, and we Disney fans are eagerly awaiting information about all things Disney.

“D23 Expo presents three full days of “inside-the-magic” experiences you won’t find anywhere else, including exclusive sneak peeks at upcoming films from The Walt Disney Studios, dazzling celebrity appearances, unforgettable presentations given by Disney luminaries, a look at what’s coming from Disney Parks and Resorts and Walt Disney Imagineering, the Disney Legends ceremony, and the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibition, which spotlights crown jewels from Disney’s timeless legacy (d23.com).”

A very detailed model of Star Wars Land has one of the first things revealed during the media previews. Below is a guided tour through the model of Star Wars Land by  Imagineer Scott Trowbridge at D23 Expo 2017. The Mature Mouse™ believes that, based on this model, Star Wars Land will advance the evolution of theming in Disney Parks.

Star Wars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Mature Mouse™ was registered with WordPress on November 10, 2014. My first post was made on November 30, 2014. I would like to thank each and every one of you that have continued to follow my Disney musings.

picture2The Mature Mouse™ is not only a fan of all things Disney, especially the parks, but I am also a Star Wars nerd. Episode 4: A New Hope, from the original trilogy, has become a part of my instructional material when teaching freshmen about the archetype of the hero journey. I am very excited about the new Star Wars land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (name change yet to be announced). Until this new experience opens, DHS offers a taste of Star Wars through the various special events, including the new fireworks, and the Star Wars Launch Bay.

This is a description of the Launch Bay from the Disney World website:

Explore immersive special exhibits and get a peek behind the scenes of the new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Discover sights, sounds and surprises that are sure to delight any Star Wars fan.

Get an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes, concept artwork and artifacts from the 4Star Wars films, including these special galleries:

  • Celebration Gallery
  • Preview Galley
  • Light Side Gallery
  • Dark Side Gallery

10The Mature Mouse™ entered nerd nirvana touring the Star Wars Launch Bay during my last solo trip to Walt Disney World. I was able to view a galaxy of Star Wars memorabilia (see what I did there). My attempt to trade with a Jawa failed; he (she?) was just not interested in what I had to offer in trade. I finally gave the character one my cast-member “Thank You” cards. These creatures are well trained to marvelously interact with the guests. And, the highlight of my tour of the Star Wars Launch Bay was meeting a very special Wookie named Chewbacca. Here is a tip for avoiding lines at meet and greets in the Star Wars Launch Bay: go during the fireworks or Fantasmic.
