Walt Disney World will take guests far, far away!

The Mature Mouse™ is a Star Wars fan. I am very excited about Disney’s construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney announced the addition of a new resort, connected to Galaxy’s Edge, that will immerse guests in the Star Wars universe by allowing them to engage in a type of role-playing vacation.

From the Disney Parks Blog: This first-of-its-kind resort will combine luxury with a complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story. Guests’ journey through space will start when everyone departs together for a multiday Stars Wars adventure by boarding a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during a voyage through the galaxy.

Are you looking forward to booking a stay at this Star Wars resort? Do you like the level of immersion Disney is promising?

Star Wars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Mature Mouse™ was registered with WordPress on November 10, 2014. My first post was made on November 30, 2014. I would like to thank each and every one of you that have continued to follow my Disney musings.

picture2The Mature Mouse™ is not only a fan of all things Disney, especially the parks, but I am also a Star Wars nerd. Episode 4: A New Hope, from the original trilogy, has become a part of my instructional material when teaching freshmen about the archetype of the hero journey. I am very excited about the new Star Wars land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (name change yet to be announced). Until this new experience opens, DHS offers a taste of Star Wars through the various special events, including the new fireworks, and the Star Wars Launch Bay.

This is a description of the Launch Bay from the Disney World website:

Explore immersive special exhibits and get a peek behind the scenes of the new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Discover sights, sounds and surprises that are sure to delight any Star Wars fan.

Get an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes, concept artwork and artifacts from the 4Star Wars films, including these special galleries:

  • Celebration Gallery
  • Preview Galley
  • Light Side Gallery
  • Dark Side Gallery

10The Mature Mouse™ entered nerd nirvana touring the Star Wars Launch Bay during my last solo trip to Walt Disney World. I was able to view a galaxy of Star Wars memorabilia (see what I did there). My attempt to trade with a Jawa failed; he (she?) was just not interested in what I had to offer in trade. I finally gave the character one my cast-member “Thank You” cards. These creatures are well trained to marvelously interact with the guests. And, the highlight of my tour of the Star Wars Launch Bay was meeting a very special Wookie named Chewbacca. Here is a tip for avoiding lines at meet and greets in the Star Wars Launch Bay: go during the fireworks or Fantasmic.

A travel agent who specializes in booking Disney Vacations is a valuable free resource when planning your next trip. I started planning my recent Disney World Vacation by calling Jennie Nowers. When Cool Summer Savings was released, Jennie was up early applying these savings to my trip, which saved me 15% on the price of my resort stay. I did not have to do a thing. IMG_1869Tell Jennie that The Mature Mouse™ sent you and receive a special gift with your next booking.

$3 Billion to Overhaul Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Having just spent time in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it is clear that there are major changes coming to the park. Many attractions were closed by the end of June, when I was there, and a few more are slated for closing this summer. However, except for Bob Iger’s general statement that there will be an increased presence of Star Wars coming to the park, Disney has yet to announce the specific plans. Something has to happen, and fast, or guests will avoid visiting that park. This just does not seem right for those visitors who have saved for that once-in-a-lifetime vacation at Walt Disney World. With the 50th anniversary of the resorts opening coming in only 6 years, can Disney make all the necessary changes to its four Parks?

According to the website thisisinfamous.com, there are some serious rumors spreading about the changes coming to Disney’s Holloywood Studios, all with a price tag of 3 billion dollars. Click the image to see the full article.
